Musical Program Gabriela Lena Frank's Four Folk Songs Clara Schumann's G minor trio Johannes Brahms C Major Trio Exploring the different faces of love, transport yourself from the mountains of Peru to the valleys of Upper Austria. In American composer Gabriela Lena Frank's Four Folk Songs, you'll experience her love for her mother's homeland of Peru as she paints folk-infused soundscapes of the country's pre-Incan and post-colonial societies. From there, witness two works that delve into desire, heartbreak, tenderness, hope, and triumph: Clara Schumann's G minor trio and the C Major trio of Johannes Brahms. The close professional and personal relationship between Clara and Brahms has been the subject of intrigue and speculation for decades and offers a necessary lens through which to appreciate these two gems of the repertoire. |
