Since 1970 the Martha's Vineyard Chamber Music Society has brought outstanding live classical music to our shores and, as the ONLY classical music organization on the Island, the Martha's Vineyard Chamber Music Society enjoys a UNIQUE position
in the community.
Our 50 YEARS OF PERFORMANCES afford us the opportunity to make classical music a truly integral part of Island life.

A large part of the mission of the MVCMS is to support music education
- We lend up to 75 free instruments to elementary students in support of the exceptional public school strings program that serves 160-180 students per year.
- We award partial scholarships to reduce the cost of private classical instrument instruction for 15-20 Island students.
- We sponsor an annual scholarship to a MVRHS student to pursue music education.
- We sponsor an Artist in Residency program annually bringing professional quartets to the island to teach in the schools for up to a week.
- Monthly school visits from musicians and free community concerts
- Collaborating with other island non-profits to increase visibility
- Increasing our reach with students working with the school teachers to find unmet needs and work to satisfy them.
