Carnival of Animals

Camille Saint-Saëns Carnival of the Animals
and the Tale of Peter & the Wolf

Performing Arts Center at the MV Regional High School

Performer/Storyteller David Gonzalez &
Pianist Frederic Chiu
take the stage at the Performing Arts Center, with Gonzalez unfolding the tale of Peter and the Wolf to the music of St. Saëns’ famed suite, transcribed for solo piano. Gonzalez has several awards and accolades to his credit, including a nomination for the Drama Desk Award for “Unique Theatrical Experience.”   This performance is a joyful introduction to the possibilities of classical music for children but will be a musical treat for any age. It will also be a welcome return for MVCMS Family Programming. 


A suggested donation of $20 is appreciated but not required.
Pre-registration for preferred seating
will be available on this site until 12 noon on July 22. 
After that general seating
will be available at the Performing Arts Center.

David Gonzalez is a cultural ambassador for the U.S. State Department, and is the proud recipient of the International Performing Arts for Youth “Lifetime Achievement Award for Sustained Excellence“. Mr. Gonzalez was named a Fellow of the Joseph Campbell Foundation and was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for “Unique Theatrical Experience” for The Frog Bride. David has created numerous productions, including the critically acclaimed ¡Sofrito! both of which enjoyed sold-out runs at New Victory Theater. Sleeping Beauty was co-commissioned by the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, Brooklyn College, and The McCallum Theater.

The Martha's Vineyard Chamber Music Society produces chamber music concerts and promotes an appreciation of classical and contemporary music on the island of Martha's Vineyard.
