About this program: “We’ve all heard of Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, but Franz Schubert often gets lost in the mix of things," says Director Matt Scinto, "The reality is Schubert is one of the greatest musical geniuses to have ever lived, composing over 600 songs, dozens of chamber pieces, nine symphonies, piano works, and more before dying at the young age of 31. The Cello Quintet was in fact written just two months before the composer’s death in 1828. It is as 'mature' as Schubert gets."
As for the new explorations of the Cape Cod Chamber Orchestra: “We are excited to put all the delays the pandemic caused behind us and finally launch our new chamber series this season." says Scinto. "Part of our goal with the chamber series is to branch out and explore new collaborations around Cape Cod. Performing on the vineyard fulfills that ambition.” A facet of CCCO’s Season Five, the Sandbar Chamber Series features new soloists, new music and hallmark performances in multiple venues on Cape Cod & Islands.
