Borealis recordings are lauded for their outstanding artistic elegance. Nominated for a Grammy in 2006, this ensemble is undoubtedly a major wind quintet of our time. Additionally, the quintet is recognized for its fundamental contributions to the wind quintet literature with voluminous commissions, recordings and editions of both rare and traditional music The Washington Post praised their “sensitive collaborations that have a sophisticated and cosmopolitan air.” Borealis has traveled far afield bringing their unique perspective to all that they play – from contemporary to classical to folk. The ensemble has appeared in major U.S. concert halls including Carnegie Hall and the Frick Museum in New York City, the Four Seasons in Berkeley, Strathmore in Maryland, the Corning Museum in New York, and performances in Princeton, Notre Dame, Wolf Trap and many other venues.
