We're excited to collaborate with Boston Lyric Opera for their musicians return to Martha’s Vineyard to present a special one-night concert at the Union Chapel. The evening will include selections from classics like Carmen, Tosca, La traviata, Le nozze di Figaro and more, sung by acclaimed Soprano and former Jane and Steven Akin Emerging Artist, Brianna J. Robinson, as well as BLO's Artistic Director, Nina Yoshida Nelsen, ahead of their return to BLO's stage for our production of William Tell.

Featured Artists

​Brianna J. Robinson, Soprano: In the 2025/26 season, soprano Brianna J. Robinson returned to Detroit Opera as a Resident Artist and performed as Moira in Poul Roders’ The Handmaid's Tale, also performing with the Lima Symphony Orchestra in Carmina Burana. In 2026/27, she returns to Boston Lyric Opera as Jemmy in William Tell. Ms. Robinson is a former Jane & Steven Akin Emerging Artist with BLO, where she performed roles such as Julie in Giddens and Abels’ 2023 Pulitzer Prize-winning opera Omar, Léontine in Joseph Bologne’s The Anonymous Lover, Mimì (cover) in La bóheme, and Lucy in Fellow Travelers. Last season, she was awarded First Prize in the George Shirley Vocal Competition in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and First Place in the James Toland Vocal Arts Competition.

​Nina Yoshida Nelsen (she/her) made her Boston Lyric Opera debut in 2021 as Mamma Lucia in Cavalleria rusticana. She was featured as a singer and storyteller in the filmed documentary-concert B., which marked an artistic culmination of BLO’s “The Butterfly Process.” She joined the company as an Artistic Advisor in 2021, participating in artistic discussions and decisions, company auditions, and more. More recently, she served as dramaturg for BLO’s widely acclaimed 2023 production of Madama Butterfly. Since 2024, Nina has served as the Artistic Director of BLO.

​Pianist Brett Hodgdon is Chorus Director and Head of Music at Boston Lyric Opera, where he has collaborated with Music Director David Angus on the company’s music staff since 2011. Hodgdon was a member of the first class of Jane & Steven Akin Emerging Artists in the 2011/12 season.
